| CLUB PROGRAMME |
| For the following season 2010/11 which starts on the 10th September 2010, there will be three set subjects. They are as follows: - 12th November - Print Competition - Looking Through - 11th February - Slide & PDI Competition - Curves - 29th April - Brian Hodgson Trophy - Buildings SUMMER WALKS PROGRAMME 2010 Meet on Friday evenings at 7 pm. We will aim to meet at a selected pub each Friday at approx 9 pm. MAY 2010 28th - Dinton Pastures Park in the car park and walk, following the signs to the lake. At the lake we will walk in a clockwise direction with the intention of circulating the entire lake. Afterwards we will visit the Jolly Farmer pub, at Hurst, for some refreshment. JUNE 2010 4th - Woolhampton Wharf and afterwards visit the Row Barge pub. We will meet in the Row Barge Pub car park and walking to the canal turn right and walk west towards Newbury. Afterwards we will meet back at the pub for a drink. 11th - Marsh Lock at Henley and afterwards at The Plowden Arms at Shiplake. Members will meet in the car park situated in Mill Lane. Walking towards the river, we will walk over the wooden bridge and back, then take the towpath towards Henley. 18th - The Pangbourne Walk. Meet at the car park which is opposite the Bentley car dealership in Station Road. From the car park turn right and at the mini roundabout turn left into High Street. Cross the river Pang and bear right at the next major junction into The Moors. At the end of the drive continue ahead on a way marked footpath. After the walk we will visit the Cross Keys pub for a drink. 25th - BBQ with John & Marianne at Mortimer West End. John, our chairman, and his wife Marianne, invite all members to their home at Mortimer West End for this special evening which has become an annual event. Members are welcome to arrive between 7.30 pm & 8.00pm. JULY 2010 2nd – Marlow A stroll through the streets of Marlow reveals many buildings of architectural and historic interest. From the tourist information centre turn right and make for the junction at the top of the High Street. Bear left into West Street, by the former Crown, now the Steamer Trading Company. Car Parks can be found in Pound Lane and Oxford Road off West Street. A visit to a watering hole will be decided during the evening. 9th - Hosehill Nature Reserve at Theale and afterwards visit the Fox and Hounds Pub for a drink. The nature reserve is opposite the pub and members will be aloud to park their car in the pub’s car park. On entering the nature reserve we will walk in an anti-clockwise direction in the hope of completing the entire walk around the lake. 16th - Caversham Court and afterwards at The Griffin pub. Caversham Court has recently been restored to it’s former glory with glorious beds of flowers and an area landscape to give a pleasant walk along the river Thames. Some car spaces are available in The Warren by St Peters Church otherwise members will need to use the council car park by the Promenade and walk across Caversham Bridge and then turn right into Church Road. 23rd - Aldworth / The Ridgeway and afterwards at The Bell pub. We will meet up on the track near the church. The track will allow us to take our cars a little way to the Ridgeway before we start walking. 30th - Silchester Common and afterwards at The Pelican pub at Pamber Heath. Members will meet in the roadside car park at the end of Impstone Road. If anyone is uncertain where to meet please phone John Chandler for directions AUGUST 2010 6th - A social evening at a local pub. Last season the members met at the Fox and Hounds at Theale, however, if any members have other pub locations for consideration then please let a committee member know. SEPTEMBER 2009 11th - Welcome evening Hosted by the Chairman An introduction to the forthcoming season. A social evening to welcome new members and for old members to catch up with each other after the summer break. 18th - A Photographic Tour of Chile A digital projected view of this South American country which is complimented by superb photography. Presented by Gaston Alziary ARPS 25th - Photoshop Tricks & Tips This is a demonstartion of helpful tips and how to save time, covering all versions of Photoshop. Presented by Glenn Wilgrove. OCTOBER 2009 2nd - Print Competition No.1 Judge: Paul Hampton 3 Prints, colour or monochrome, may be submitted by each member 9th - The Thames Uphill Rod describes how he walked from the sea to the source of the River Thames Presented by Rod Bird 16th - Studio Evening A members practical evening, so please bring your camera along and join in. 23rd - Slide & Digitally Projected Image Competition No.1 Judge: Paul Sefieck 2 Slides and 2 Digitally Projected Images may be submitted by each member. 30th - Wetland and Waterways A selection of slides and prints showing the habitat of the countryside and how once the waterways of the country were so important. Presented by Nigel Choate NOVEMBER 2009 6th - An Evening of Natural History This is a continuation of Keith’s presentation from our last programme and should not be missed. Presented by Keith Polwin 9th-21st - SRCC ANNUAL PRINT EXHIBITION Held at Reading Library 13th - Print Competition No.2 - Subject – Leisure Time Judge: Richard Froud 3 prints, colour or monochrome may be submitted by each member 20th - Southern Federation League – Round 1 SRCC vs Disabled Photographers Society vs Andover Split Image P.S At Home Judge: Peter Noble (Digital Images for the next competition must be submitted by this evening) 26th - Mix & Match Competition at Hungerford CC Hungerford Town Hall, High Street, Hungerford RG17 0NE Start 7:45 The club will need slides for this evening 27th - An Evening with Dave Members evening – a presentation by Dave Patterson DECEMBER 2009 4th - Slide & Digitally Projected Image Competition No 2 Judge: Ruari Cummings LRPS 2 Slide and 2 Digital Images may be submitted by each member. 11th - Fun Slide Race – Members Evening Them against us. The Club will need slides for this evening. 18th - Christmas Dinner Venue to be announced Hoping that all members will come to enjoy and celebrate the festive season. 25th - No Meeting JANUARY 2010 1st - No Meeting 7th - Southern Federation Competition : Round 2 SRCC vs BasingstokeCC vs Newbury CC 8th - Shoot a Theme – Competition A story on a Board – up to 2 entries per member. Judged by members. 14th - Southern Federation Competition: Round 3 SRCC vs Burghfield CC vs Overton PC At St Oswald’s Church Hall, Abbey Park Road, Burghfield 15th - Wildlife in Africa A chance to see another of Nigel’s superb presentations of images from one of Africa’s game parks Presented by Nigel Glover-Wright 22nd - Print Competition No:3 Judge: Nigel Fenner LRPS 3 Prints, colour or monochrome may be submitted by each member. 29th - Showing of the Southern Federation Annual Digitally Projected Images (Digital Images for the next competition must be submitted by this evening) FEBRUARY 2010 5th - Members Evening Presented by John Chandler Details to be announced 12th - Slide & Digitally Projected Image Competition No 3 – Subject – At Work Judge: Kim Tomlin 2 Slides and 2 Digital Images may be submitted by each member. 19th - Kew in Close Up and Steam in India A personal view of the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew and thoughts on photographing and recording steam locomotives in India Presented by Dr Peter Brandham 26th - Digital Presentation of Oxford The beauty of Oxford captured through the eyes and camera lens of Clive. Presented by Clive Jones MARCH 2010 5th - Print Competition No 4 Judge: Derek Trendell ARPS 3 Prints, colour or monochrome may be submitted by each member. 12th - Mix & Match SRCC vs Wokingham & East Berks Judge: Alan Copeland (The Club will need slides for this evening) 19th - Club Auction Please remember to bring your pocket money along 25th - J.P.C.R – 6 Clubs Competition Hosted by Wokingham & East Berkshire C.C. Judge: Tony Charters 26th - A.V. Evening for Members A chance for members to bring along their digital A.V. Sequences (Sequences to last no longer than 7 minutes) (Digital Images for the next competition must be submitted by this week) APRIL 2010 2nd - Easter – No Meeting 9th - Into Africa Don’t miss this exciting presentation starting with the landscape and wildlife of South Africa to the magnificent Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Presented by Bob Macleod FRPS 16th - Slide & Digitally Projected Image Competition No 4 Judge: Jeff Lawrence 2 Slides and 2 Digital Images may be submitted by each member. 23rd - An Evening with Ron Humorous and entertaining combination of travel and home made productions Presented by Ron Povey 30th - Brian Hodgson Trophy (Prints only) Subject – Reflections Judge: Caroline Colegate LRPS MAY 2010 7th - Details to be announced 14th - Photograph of the Year Images scoring 19 or above in the quarterly print and DPI competition to be entered 21st - Annual General Meeting and Trophy Presentation Please make every effort to attend as this is a meeting where important decisions will be made regarding the Club’s future. |
